James Glass is called in as to investigate a bombing at a biotech firm. He is a private policeman. Tracking down an old employee of the company while looking into it he finds out they are researching providing a protective cell barrier in the maternal birth process. This would scree out some toxins and diseases, and also make all babies 100% heterosexual. Mendehlson is gay, and so is Glass.
His partner Martin is in the Mardi Gras parade, and he is threatened and beaten there, conveniently with cameras around. He realises that LEI bombed their own facility, and hired the pretending to be gay thugs to beat him up.
He vows to go after them when he can move well enough to do so.
